Sydney Sweeney Wore Christian Cowan To Variety’s 2025 Power of Women Los Angeles

Sydney Sweeney was back on the red carpet for Variety’s 2025 Power of Women Los Angeles event, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Wednesday.

The actress hasn’t been having a great time on the red carpet lately — she’s zero for four when it comes to her Christy press tour looks. And just when it seemed like things were turning around thanks to Giorgio Armani and Stella McCartney, we’re right back at square one.

I wasn’t sure how to start talking about this Christian Cowan Spring 2026 gown because I genuinely don’t want this to come across as body shaming. On the runway, the gown skimmed the body with that liquid-sculpture precision — a nod to Old Hollywood glamour, maybe even the Statue of Liberty. But on Sydney, it veered straight into Porky’s territory — specifically, the wet T-shirt contest scene from the 1981 film.

Was that intentional? Of course. But it’s also exhausting. With the right adjustments and proper understructure, this could’ve been striking. I’m not anti-sheer, and I’ll always defend a fashion risk, but if you’re going sheer to this degree, at least make sure everything’s aligned east to west.

And considering how this looked on the runway, you can’t even blame flash photography. Put this same dress on someone like Nicole Kidman, and it would’ve been a different story. Ultimately, it comes down to taste — and this one, sadly, lacks it.

Also, the hair is at complete odds with this look. So many bad decisions were made here that it’s almost unfathomable.
