Ayo Edebiri Wore Giovanna Flores To The 2026 Drama League Awards

Ayo Edebiri attended the 2026 Drama League Awards in New York City last week, and the Chanel ambassador stepped away from Parisian house codes in favour of something far more experimental.

Wearing a Giovanna Flores Spring 2026 dress styled with Gianvito Rossi Ribbon sandals, this look tapped back into the offbeat, art-school-adjacent energy that first made Ayo’s style so exciting. The mix of clashing polka dots, gingham panels, draped construction, and asymmetrical proportions felt intentionally awkward in that downtown New York way that often works best on someone with her ease and humour.

From the side, I was completely sold. The silhouette was intriguing, and the draping fell with ease.

But then I saw the front.

And suddenly the entire mood shifted.

Unfortunately, all I could see was a laundry apron. Once that thought entered my mind, I couldn’t unsee it. Which is frustrating, because there are elements of this look that genuinely align with Ayo’s style instincts: quirky, unconventional, slightly anti-glamour, and resistant to looking overly perfected.

I still appreciate the risk, but it didn’t pay off.
