Riley Keough Wore Alaïa To The ‘Soudain’ Cannes Film Festival Screening

Riley Keough is at the Cannes Film Festival to promote her new film Butterfly Jam, but last night she attended the Histoires Parallèles event, and this afternoon stepped out for the Soudain screening.

Speaking of last night, many of you really did not like her Chanel Haute Couture look, so I am wondering if this custom Alaïa corseted bustier dress with a dramatic, voluminous asymmetrical skirt will serve as the redemption arc.

For me, this clears the first look with ease. There is a sculptural quality to the way the fabric folds and lifts around the hips that feels distinctly Alaïa.

The gold metal belt was a smart detail. Without it, the look may have read bottom-heavy, but that slim metallic accent added a sharp, modern flourish.

I also love the return of those Alaïa patent leather thong sandals first seen on Hannah Einbinder. They continue to be one of the more divisive shoe trends on the red carpet, but they work here because they keep the styling clean and unfussy against such a dramatic silhouette.
