Diane Kruger Wore Erdem To The New York City Ballet 2026 Spring Gala

Last night, the New York City Ballet hosted its Spring Gala, celebrating artistry, movement, and costume design. The annual event featured the world premiere of Principal Dancer Tiler Peck’s Symphonie Espagnole with costumes designed by Robert Perdziola, alongside a performance of George Balanchine’s Jewels featuring costumes by longtime Balanchine collaborator Karinska.

Diane Kruger, who served on the Gala Host Committee, was impossible to miss wearing an Erdem Fall 2026 look that immediately felt aligned with the spirit of the evening.

We’ve been seeing the German actress return to a more European mode of dressing with sharper editorial choices, and this delivered exactly that balance. The embellished bra top with oversized satin bows paired with the dramatic feathered skirt had a theatrical softness that naturally connected back to the ballet setting. The feathered skirt feels lifted from a ballet production, recalling the dreamlike softness of Les Sylphides while avoiding anything overly literal or costume-driven.

The runway’s feathered footwear would have been fun, but Diane’s choice of clean white satin pumps felt right for the occasion.

The only element not fully working for me here is the hairstyle. Diane has worn this lacquered-yet-loose wave before, and against a look with this much visual texture, it feels slightly disconnected. A sleeker updo would have been my preference. I’m also not convinced by the black clutch, which interrupts the softness of the palette.
