Gwendoline Christie Wore Tom Ford To The 2025 Emmy Awards

Gwendoline Christie isn’t one to play it safe on the red carpet, which is part of why I always look forward to her appearances.

At the 2025 Emmys, where she’s nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for House of the Dragon, she went the suit route—Haider Ackermann’s Tom Ford made-to-measure pink sequin double-breasted design.

I usually love when someone takes a detour away from the traditional gown, and this suit had the potential to really stand out. The sequins caught the light beautifully, and the cherry smoke Tom Ford ankle-strap pumps added edge, but I found myself distracted by the beauty choices. The makeup leaned so pale it read ghostly against the softness of the pink, and even the warm red lip couldn’t quite pull it back.

Coming right after Tilda Swinton’s sparkling blue suit from the same designer last week, I wanted to be as swept away by Gwendoline’s look. Instead, I’m a little torn. The idea was bold, the execution was brave, but something about the overall balance didn’t land the way I hoped. Still, I love her taking a risks.
