2023 Cannes Film Festival Menswear Roundup

We shouldn’t be surprised that menswear during the Cannes Film Festival will give us different variations of the classic tux, but my interest is piqued the most when those gents give us a colour other than black, or a silhouette we haven’t seen before.

Alton Mason attended the ‘Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny’ premiere rocking the classic Balenciaga Hourglass blazer, named for its sculptural silhouette, which became one of the founder’s most iconic signatures.

Messika jewelry and Balenciaga’s signature gloves completed his look.

Aswan Reid wasn’t to be upstaged on his big night at ‘The New Boy’ premiere.

The young actor stood out wearing a custom Louis Vuitton red wool suit, which gave him a little wiggle room should he want to recycle this suit in a few months’ time.

French model Baptiste Giabiconi attended the ‘Jeanne du Barry’ premiere wearing a custom Dior by Kim Jones “off-the-shoulder” navy wool jacket, over a tweed vest and a second navy wool vest.

Some might say that is a lot of layering for a summer premiere, but his tweed kilted shorts would’ve provided some respite.

Black wool socks with CD Diamond embroidery and black leather boots completed his look.

For the ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ premiere, Benjamin Biolay looked very dashing in this Celine Homme tuxedo.

Trust Charlie Heaton to find a way to keep tailoring interesting as he added a long peacoat to his Saint Laurent look for the ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ premiere.

Although, some might say that his trousers were at tad too long.

Ethann Isidore was also at the ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ premiere, having a fun moment with his co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge wearing an AMI suit designed by Alexandre Mattiuss.

For the premiere of his new film, ‘Jeanne du Barry,’ Johnny Depp, the face of the Dior Sauvage fragrance, wore a custom Dior by Kim Jones double-breasted peak lapel tuxedo.

I like how the wing-tip collar shirt, jewelry buttons, and a silk pocket square added some vintage elegance to the look.

Dior by Kim Jones dressed Johnny Depp for the photocall the following day.

The grey wool peak lapel suit was styled with his favourite rings, but it seems that he has dropped his signature layer of necklaces for a more polished profile.

Manu Rios was giving the people what they want at The Red Sea International Film Festival’s Women’s Stories Gala wearing a black sleeveless peak-lapel Ferragamo coat with matching flat-front tailored trousers.

For the ‘Black Files’ premiere, Michael Pitt opted for black-on-black Celine Homme.

For the ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ premiere, Orelsan wore a Dior by Kim Jones light grey cotton workwear suit with a pair of white Dior WARP sneakers which isn’t your usual Cannes premiere look, but is refreshing in a sea of all black suits.

Paul Dano gave us Clark Gable elegance at the Madame Figaro x Christian Dior dinner dressed in a Dior by Kim Jones black velvet peak lapel tuxedo.

French actor Pierre Niney was at the same event wearing a Dior by Kim Jones Gardener suit, which featured the same stitched outline as Orelsan’s suit.

I’m most intrigued by the embellished trim on Romain Duris Celine Homme bespoke 3 three-piece cotton velvet suit which he wore to the ‘Monster’ premiere.

Will Gao stepped out for the Condé Nast Traveller & Carlton Hotel Reopening dinner wearing a preppy Kenzo Fall 2023 camel checked tailored suit styled with a Kenzo stamp tie and Kenzosmile vegetal leather derby shoes.
