2023 BAFTAs Red Carpet Roundup

Here is the roundup from the 2023 BAFTAs which took place on Sunday (February 19) in London.

A don’t like this Gucci dress as there are too many ideas and they are all fighting against each other.

Yet Gugu Mbatha-Raw is still absolutely mesmerising here…from the neck up.

There was less pressure on Ariana DeBose to deliver as she was a returning winner, rather than a nominee.

This Fendi Couture dress is pretty forgettable.  And I want to see less of those Bulgari serpenti necklaces on the red carpet.

This Saint Laurent open back gown doesn’t scream glamour, but this look was very in tune with Emma Mackey’s quiet elegance.

Boucheron jewels completed her look.

Between the sneakers and the creases on her Laura Pitharas trousers, I should hate this, but I’m always charmed by Emma Thompson.

There are many predictable looks on this red carpet, but Hayley Atwell’s in Cong Tri Fall 2022 look was not one of them.

Cartier jewels completed her look.

If you’re getting déjà vu from Hong Chau’s Erdem Spring 2023 dress, that’s because Claire Foy had a much less successful outing in a similar version of this dress last year.

Boucheron jewels completed her look.

I commend Hoyeon for selling this custom Louis Vuitton bustier gown to me.

Or perhaps I’m enamoured by her smile, the red lip and her stunning Louis Vuitton High Jewelry necklace.

Jamie Lee Curtis’ hit and miss run during awards season continues…sadly.

She’s too fabulous for this uneventful Saint Laurent look.  Cathy Waterman jewels accessorised the look.

Jessica Henwick dazzled in a Brunello Cucinelli black sequined two-piece look styled with a wool blazer from the label’s eveningwear capsule collection.

Kerry Condon was once again in sparkling form wearing an Armani Privé Fall 2019 bustier gown.

Little Simz had two Prada looks on the night, and I have to say that I much prefer the Prada suit with the ostrich feather detail.

I can breathe a sigh of relief seeing Nicola Coughlan wearing this Valentino Spring 2022 Haute Couture gown, following that Christopher Kane look from last week.

What a quick way to redeem herself.

This gown is much more in keeping with her style.

I kinda want to like Olivia Cooke in this Vivienne Westwood corset and Dior by John Galliano skirt, but I feel that the styling could’ve been stronger to sell this look.

Garrard jewels and satin sandals completed her look.

Portuguese model Sara Sampaio looked beautiful bringing supermodel glamour to this red carpet wearing a Zuhair Murad Pre-Fall 2023 black off-shoulder taffeta keyhole ball gown.

Taffeta done right.  Words I never thought I would say. 

If you’re having déjà vu from Wallis Day’s stunning Lever Couture.

It’s because this translucent fabric which creates an aquatic shine to the gown is the same gown which Heidi Klum wore in white to the ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ LA premiere.

The other difference is that Heidi opted for open toe PVC sandals.

I will never understand the appeal of these shoes.
