Carey Mulligan Wore Schiaparelli Haute Couture To The ‘She Said’ AFI Fest Screening

Carey Mulligan attended the 2022 AFI Fest ‘She Said’ screening held at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Friday (November 4) in Hollywood, California. 

As I have been saying since the start of this promo tour, Carey Mulligan’s promo tour style can often be a bit of a slow burner, as she tends to save her most dramatic moments for the Met Gala and Awards Season.

I was delighted to see that she kinda made me eat my words when she stepped onto the red carpet wearing this black velvet Schiaparelli Fall 2022 Haute Couture bustier gown featuring a pale green satin bouillonné.

Is there a part of me that wishes that this has been saved for someone who would’ve sold this gown in a more theatrical way (I’m thinking Coco Rocha) or someone with a little bit more of an edge (Tilda Swinton) or someone who can turn water into wine (Cate Blanchett)?

Yes.

But what I do appreciate about this outing is that Carey dared to step outside her promo tour “all black, and narrow all of the time,” and give us something a little bit different.
