Off-White @ The 2022 Met Gala

Off-White dressed Kylie Jenner and British actor Paapa Essiedu for the 2022 Met Gala on Monday (May 2).

Kylie Jenner wore the ‘Poetry Dress’ which draws inspiration from the final Couture gown designed by Virgil Abloh, shown in the Off-White™ Fall 2022 runway show.

She wore this dress in tribute to her friend Virgil, who sadly passed away back in November.

Kylie collaborated closely with the Off-White™ Atelier for this touching tribute, but as soon as a picture of her wearing this dress hit the internet, she was ridiculed – mercilessly.

I struggled to get on board with everything from the chest upwards.

The mesh t-shirt felt too casual, yet on brand, much like the ‘Off’ logo.

Where this look really fell apart for me was the back to front cap and veil. It was almost comical.

When I saw her Instagram from the after-party my first thought was, why didn’t you wear this to the main event?

Yes. Everything about this feels like a typical Kar-Jenner look (mostly the silhouette), but this feels more fitting for the occasion.

Paapa Essiedu wore an Off-White petrol blue flocked velvet suit which was inspired by an old-fashioned smoking room in Turin, which features one wide leg and one straight leg.

Off-White ‘Nassau’ sunglasses, VEERT Collection 4 emerald and gold necklace and a Hublot timepiece completed his look which felt ‘60s inspired.
