Iris van Herpen @ The 2022 Met Gala

Iris van Herpen dressed Teyana Taylor, Dove Cameron, Winnie Harlow and Fredrik Robertsson for the 2022 Met Gala held in New York City on Monday (May 2).

If you’re looking for the theme, you’ll be disappointed, but if you are looking to be entertained by some otherworldly creations, then this is the post for you.

Teyana Taylor wore the Iris van Herpen ‘Mythosphere’ gradient-dyed gown, plissé-ed into a fine harmonica texture.

The colour is hypnotic, but the headpiece sells the look.

Dove Cameron wore the Iris van Herpen ‘Spiral Nebula’ gown which is inspired by cosmic structures of spiral nebulas, spiraling out from their center. 

With Dove’s milky complexion, this should’ve been an easy sell, but the fit seems slightly off which exposed the nude layer underneath.

Or, the issue is that she needed to stand taller, with less slouch in her pose.

Those shoes with this creation is the biggest crime to have taken place on this red carpet, aside from Kylie Jenner’s back to front cap.

Winnie Harlow, who also wore Iris van Herpen to last year’s event, donned the ‘Transmotion’ dress.

I love how intricate and delicate this piece is, but much like Teyana’s dress, the headpiece – ‘Minds in Motion’ crown – sells the look.

Fredrik Robertsson wore the Iris van Herpen ‘Quantum’ jumpsuit.

His look radiates and plays with combined masculinity and femininity, embracing Fredrik’s ongoing personal transformations with dramatic flair.

The feathery embellishments are transformed into graphic strong and gravity defying textures that float away from the skin, around his face. 

This was probably the best look in terms of being a truly defining, signature look for the designer which didn’t feel diluted.
