Gwei Lun Mei Wore Chanel Haute Couture To The 2020 Golden Horse Awards

Gwei Lun Mei was nominated for Best Actress for the film ‘A Leg’ at the 2020 Golden Horse Awards, dubbed the Chinese Oscars, in Taipei on Saturday (November 21).
Being the eagle-eyed fashion detective that I consider myself to be, something became immediately apparent when I saw the actress on the red carpet – she loves to wear white at this event.
To the 2012 ceremony she wore a white Alexander McQueen dress.
In 2013 she wore another white Alexander McQueen dress, and 2014 saw her don an Elie Saab Haute Couture white dress.
She broke the cycle in 2018 with a black Chanel Haute Couture dress, but she was back on track on Sunday night wearing a two piece Chanel Spring 2020 Haute Couture embroidered look.

I have to say I wasn’t really a fan of the sheer overlay. It kinda felt a bit redundant on the runway. But in the portrait below Gwei Lun Mei definitely sold this piece to me.
Her black and white Chanel shoes wouldn’t have been my first choice, but they do manage to break up the look.
Gwei Lun Mei’s simple elegant look was also styled with a selection of Chanel High Jewelry.
What are your thoughts on the layered overlay?
An addition that adds an ethereal element, or totally unnecessary?
