Janelle Monae In Ralph Lauren – 2020 Oscars

I was fully anticipating that Janelle Monae would show up in her signature palette of black and white at the 2020 Oscars on Sunday (February 9) in LA — even if I was secretly hoping she would not.

Let it be known. She did not. And, I am so here for it.

It’s early for the red carpet to be shut down, or for me to declare a personal favourite. But, here I am doing it. I have no shame.

This custom Ralph Lauren silver A-line gown is a revelation. For Janelle. And, in general.

There’s just something so enchanting about the A-line shape with the cape hood contributing a fairytale-glam quality.

Given the gown was shimmering all over in crystallized embellishment, jewels were not so necessary. But, she snuck in a few well-placed Forevermark pieces to elevate the look even more.

And, this is just her first ensemble of the night. She’ll be performing later — although I would have no problem if she wore this on stage.
