Tracee Ellis Ross’ Oversized Suit For The ‘Queen & Slim’ LA Premiere

Tracee Ellis Ross In JW Anderson - ‘Queen & Slim’ LA Premiere

Tracee Ellis Ross attended the AFI FEST 2019 premiere of ‘Queen & Slim’ on Thursday (November 14) in Hollywood, California, alongside Rihanna and Jodie Smith-Turner.

The actress is our go-to girl when we want something that takes a break from the norm.

On this occasion her JW Anderson Spring 2020 look seems relatively straight-forward, until you look at the oversized proportions.

Unlike Cynthia Erivo’s gold suit from the same collection, Tracee’s blazer has extra volume from the waist down.

As a result this wasn’t flattering from all angles, but this image paints a pretty picture, although the trousers are about an inch too long.

The blazer is the best part of this look to me for the added details such as the ribbons and embellished pockets, along with the strong pops of red via her lip and Tyler Ellis clutch.

Nikos Koulis earrings added yet more sparkle.

This is a WDOTY worthy look.

The oversized fit is terrible. And I can’t stand the dragging trousers.

Oh no. Looks terrible from all angles. Pants too long, and that blazer is as unflattering as it could be.

This is a mess of a study in proportions.

Cynthia’s gold J.W. Anderson suit from this same collection is to die for, but in this grey material it’s a bit too wide. The blazer is amazing, but the pants should have been merely wide-leg, not *extra* wide leg and too long.

No. Wish the oversize look would go away. All that fabric, ugh, not sustainable. Not even you, Tracee….

that is horrid. The fit is terrible. The oversize look is terrible.
The ribbons hanging off her jacket are so unnecessary and just make it even uglier. What an awfully silly design.

Silly is the right word..should we feel lucky Tracee didn’t keep the ropes on the pants legs???

The whole thing is kinda interesting on the runway. The exaggerated parts of the blazer look structural on the model, but on Tracee it appears to be boxy and sooo unflattering. I think she worn one size bigger than her ideal size. Also, on the runway, the pants are tucked into the flats or sandals and that prevents them from ridiculously dragging on the floor.
