A-list celebrities were out in force on Saturday (October 5) for the grand opening of Tyler Perry’s studios in Atlanta.
The director, screenwriter, producer and playwright made history as the only Black man to own a major movie studio in the US.
The Carters: The red carpet shy duo were the main attraction – aside from the man of the hour of course. Jay-Z was looking smart in Tom Ford, while Beyonce was sparkling in a yellow beaded creation by the Kuwaiti based designer Yousef Al Jasmi, which has been previously worn by Keke Palmer at the 2019 MTV VMAs. Anabela Chan’s sustainable diamond chandelier earrings and Roger Vivier clutch completed her look.
Halle Berry: The actress had the right idea in this House of Holland black satin suit, but sadly the terrible fit let her down.
Tiffany Haddish: The actress was just one of many working the metallic silver and black trend of the night in Vivienne Westwood.
Tika Sumpter: The ‘Mixed-Ish’ actress shone brightly in her Rasario Fall 2018 look which served up sparkling elegance.
Michelle Williams: I’m not sure what to make of this Malan Breton look. Beautiful as it is, I feel like it would’ve worked better at the Wearable Art Gala.
Viola Davis: There is nothing better than the sight of Viola Davis in a bold hue, and this hot-pink Jay Godfrey jumpsuit with a skirt overlay, is no exception.
Storm Reid: The ‘Euphoria’ star was repping her co-stars Tommy x Zendaya Fall 2019 collection in this three-piece suit. Styled with a braided updo and white pumps, this was by far my favourite look from this event. She looked elegant, yet still youthful. The tailoring has me thinking I might need to invest this collection myself.
Monica: This Alexandre Vauthier velvet gown creates a statuesque silhouette, but this look would’ve turned heads mostly for the hot pink hue.
Kelly Rowland: I was in love with Kelly in this gold embellished Nicolas Jebran Spring 2019 gown, until I got the pointy pumps. The Marzook ‘Pill’ clutch was far more complementary.
Taraji P. Henson: Am I the only one that feels that despite this Christopher Kane dress being decked out with feathers, that it feels a little flat?
Tina Knowles: Beyonce’s mum was on hand to remind us of the elegance and drama of Alexander McQueen’s tailoring in this Fall 2019 suit.
Ava DuVernay: Yup. This is a custom Greta Constantine red mock-neck long-sleeve tea-length high low dress is a very familiar silhouette for the director, but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it…right?
