Crown Princess Victoria Rocks Head-To-Toe Pink For The Polar Music Prize 2019

Princess Victoria of Sweden In Selam Fessahaye - Polar Music Prize 2019

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Prince Daniel of Sweden attended the 2019 Polar Music Prize award ceremony this evening (June 11) in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Princess has access to every Haute Couture designer in the world, but she opted to spotlight an up-and-coming talent from her hometown when she donned this Selam Fessahaye Spring 2019 pink tulle gown.

I have a feeling it may not go down too well with the majority, as some might say that this pink frock is to twee for a mature woman, but don’t we always label dresses like this a princess gowns?

So who better to wear it than a real-life princess? Right?

I’m glad that design doesn’t steer too far from the designers vision which is from her debut collection, but the waistband was needed to rein this look in.

We’ve seen in the past that some designer change their whole aesthetic for that royal seal of approval. Christopher Kane for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge immediately springs to mind.

If you loathe this, you must give the Princess kudos for supporting local talent.

I love the dress, but hate the styling. The earrings and shoes sort of drag the look down.

I don’t see the point of supporting local talent if this is the result. Now I associate Selam Fessahaye with ugliness.

    No! OMG she looks ridiculous.

    I love this!

This is a no…she looks like her daughter playing dress-up. The bouquet takes it over the top. And she has matching earrings? OMG.

I personally love it. I just would have added burgundy velvet stilettos instead of her boring shoes.

Interesting colour choice. But don’t you think it would’ve been too heavy with this fluffy dress?

    • James Mackay June 12, 2019 at 12:33 pm #

Maybe not burgundy but more “magenta” which is like a deeper fuchsia. It would have popped out so beautifully imo ?

      magenta would’ve been interesting

It’s great supporting her nation’s talent *coughs Meghan* but I wish this were in non pastel or pink colour, lost a bit of tulle at the top and that she lost those earrings.

My first thought when I saw this what is she, a 10 year old. I loathe it but I give the princess kudos for supporting a local designer. I hesitate to use the word talent with this mess of a dress as an example of the designer’s work.

I love it. I would however have changed the earrings, maybe to good sized diamond studs.

uh nope…..this is a mess of a dress. what silliness.

      Exactly

I think she looks like a…..wait for it…..Princess. It is fun and she is beaming.

      Ha… exactly ?

  12. Guest June 11, 2019 at 11:38 pm #

    It’s not the same dress.

As for the local talent, ur going to remain local if u keep creating atrocities like this for women to wear.

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards June 12, 2019 at 12:01 am #

No. It’s not the same. I have added the runway look with the same hemline so readers can get an idea of the designers vision. Especially as this is a designer not many will be familiar with.

I hope this this makes sense.

Yes kudos for the local talent spotlight but it stops there. This is in the ‘miss’ box for her for me, nothing I like about this.
