Margot Robbie In Louis Vuitton – ‘I, Tonya’ London Premiere

Margot Robbie joined her ‘I, Tonya’ co-star Allison Janney for the London premiere this evening (February 15).

If you were to say this custom Louis Vuitton sequin dress was good, I’m afraid I would have to correct you.

It’s outstanding, exceptional, magnificent, phenomenal and so much more.

I’m going to be bullish by saying that this is the very moment many of you have been waiting (campaigning) for.

There is so much to take in. The mesmerizing dress, the sleek hair and the makeup.

This is a perfect example of how the stars (and your stylists) align to give you a breath-taking moment, and a sure-fire entry onto my BDOTY list.

And the award for most spectacular hair and make-up combo of the year goes to…

The dress on the other hand is in quite a different galaxy…

  2. barbara February 17, 2018 at 19:12 #

she looks great, but I don’t see anything special in this dress. I also don’t like her makeup

  3. Isabela February 16, 2018 at 22:29 #

I don’t understand the love for this look

  4. Tamia February 16, 2018 at 18:21 #

Yes, it’s all great on paper and she’s clearly stunningly beautiful but she’ll always leave me cold. Also, it’s a second best version of the near identical LV gown Alicia Vikander wore to the SAGs.

  5. Jones 19 February 16, 2018 at 17:22 #

Love everything about this look. Praying to the fashion gods she continues this slayage!

  6. fromchi-town February 16, 2018 at 16:25 #

She looks fab – no doubt about it. But I dont think it is a BDOTY contender for me.

  7. Leandra February 16, 2018 at 14:03 #

It’s a NO for me. The unevenness of the sequins really turns me off. I like the dress and the Art Decó motif but it doesn’t look like something made using the highest skills.

    • Pheephee February 16, 2018 at 23:18 #

+1 That is def a problem I noticed too. The sequins seem poorly done.

  8. SilentVisitor February 16, 2018 at 13:52 #

Putting aside her Red Versace and butterfly dress, this is her third best look ever
    She is smoking…….

  9. LeeAnn February 16, 2018 at 12:17 #

Agree! At first was a little taken back with her mak upbut that’s what dressing well is about – taking risks and making them work . Love it .

  10. May February 16, 2018 at 10:32 #

Not loving it. the hair and make-up let this down.

  11. Christopher Teoh Jing Xiang February 16, 2018 at 10:25 #

In my humble opinion, this Louis Vuitton sequin panel gown might be Margot’s best look to date. I mean she looks gorgeous as always, yet this high-shine number pacts an impactful punch elevated with her flawless styling. I am having a major hair envy now, as she makes it looked EFFORTLESS!! Head to toe PERFECTION, well done Margot Robbie!! Long live my Aussie girl crush, long live Queen Margot!! SLAYING my life as usual!!

  12. Kiwi February 16, 2018 at 10:06 #

Yes, yes, this is perfect, love her poise, love the make up and hair 🙂

  13. alvarospain February 16, 2018 at 09:52 #

Don’t like the hair. And the dress hasn’t got enough potential to be included in my BDOTY list…

y’all are a bunch of old ladies who can’t take a risk like this! get over it she’s slaying the outfit! when will you?!!!

  15. Giada February 16, 2018 at 09:27 #

I really like this. Loving the slight sixties mod vibe this look has, enhanced by the eye makeup. Not totally sold on the hair though.

  16. Amy February 16, 2018 at 09:26 #

I love it, yes it’s busy with all the colors but it works. The white eyeliner is the perfect touch

  17. Alina February 16, 2018 at 09:07 #

Too many stripes. It’s ok, but I’m not wowed.

  18. Charlotte February 16, 2018 at 08:49 #

Another ugly Louis Vuitton dress IMO.
I really don’t get all the love for this.
The lines seem random and the dress is too “heavy”.

  19. Camilla February 16, 2018 at 08:44 #

    I mean, it’s sequins.

I like sequins, I’m not against them, wear them regularly. But it’s a flat wall of sequins, with their density forfeiting their glittering, sparkling properties, in form of a column dress.

The striped style for me doesn’t work with the material choice – I don’t think you get anything sharp or slick that you might ordinarily with stripes, when rendered in dense sequin form (see that close-up). Plus the stripes are all weights and in all directions, which I’ve never liked.

So there’s three very basic aspects about this dress – isolated, each element can birth a great outfit (I am a stripe fiend, I love a stripped back-simple Valentino/Armani/Dior weighted column dress, sequins are as mentioned something I am drawn to), but here, it’s at best a ‘nice but meh’ to me. In person I might be slightly warmer but I wouldn’t be dying to wear the dress myself. Elle Fanning’s dress? Different story 😀

  20. The original AB February 16, 2018 at 08:34 #

She rocks this dress. For me her best look ever.

  21. Ramsay February 16, 2018 at 07:40 #

In 1 day we had 3 dresses that will potentially make my BDOTY list: Margot’s Vuitton, Elle’s Valentino and Tilda’s Chanel tux
    What a day

    • Catherine Kallon February 16, 2018 at 08:21 #

      Totally agree.

  22. annna February 16, 2018 at 06:31 #

I don’t like it. I especially don’t like the eye makeup.

  23. Chris February 16, 2018 at 05:56 #

    LOVE this, agree it’s BDOTY-worthy.

  24. Giras February 16, 2018 at 05:16 #

I kinda afraid that I would never get her. Like she has that attitude but there’s always like something missing. The dress is ugly though.

    • justme February 16, 2018 at 18:46 #

    • Ariya February 17, 2018 at 18:12 #

I feel it’s mostly her styling and hair, makeup which lets her down.

  25. QueenBee February 16, 2018 at 04:43 #

Way too similar to Alicia Vikander’s (far superior) bronze SAG dress to be considered BDOTY for me. I like the frosty eyeshadow though.

    • Stephanie February 16, 2018 at 08:28 #

was gonna say – clearly a different version of that, kind of sad to see them still shopping it around as some hot option when its kind of already been worn!

  26. Pheephee February 16, 2018 at 04:18 #

She actually looks pretty n well put together…..although I will never ever understand a full comb-over like this. Its weird.
I think it has potential for bdotw board but def not bdoty. it doesn’t have enough pizazz or intrigue.

  27. Triton February 16, 2018 at 04:07 #

I like it, I’m finally glad that Margot is going for sleek looks, those suit her best as opposed to the flowy, romantic, bohemian ones with her hair kind messy and wavy.

I just hate the type of sequins that were used for the dress, they’re too cheap looking. If they wanted shine they could have used whatever material/sequins were Sophie Turner’s BAFTA dress from last year. That gunmetal shine is better than the tacky sequences you see on many prom dresses from the 80’s.

  28. EmmaWoodhouse February 16, 2018 at 03:23 #

I was really struck by the dress, her pose, the sleekness of it all–the combover hair is well-done but I’m not 100% sure of it, mostly just interested.
I pinned this to my BDOTY contender list! It’s a super strong look. I think Margot does well in this edgy aesthetic.

    • Maz February 16, 2018 at 09:07 #

Please tell me how you pin things? I always struggle at the end of year to remember all my favourites…thank you! x

      • EmmaWoodhouse February 16, 2018 at 19:01 #

I use Pinterest and create a board called “BDOTY 201x Contenders” and then use the Pinterest button at the bottom of each post! It’s super useful!

  29. Boy February 16, 2018 at 02:39 #

Oh yeah this is pretty amazing. Not that sold on the hair but everything else is great.

  30. Nat39 February 16, 2018 at 01:51 #

I’m indeed mesmerized by her face in the 2nd pic., and the overall look is well done, not sure it excites me this much though, your standard stripes and silhouette..not a BDOTY worthy level of impact for me.

  31. meme February 16, 2018 at 01:21 #

neck up perfection. another ugly LV dress. BDOTW, i don’t think so

  32. Santiago February 16, 2018 at 01:13 #

I really think it’s just an ok look; love the make up, not so much the hair. The patter is a little random.

    • Santiago February 16, 2018 at 01:13 #

  33. Jasmine February 16, 2018 at 01:08 #

Totally agree with you. Nails the styling, especially the makeup. She looks stunning.

  34. JHH February 16, 2018 at 01:03 #

    Love the dress.

  35. Mimi February 16, 2018 at 00:49 #

I don’t get what’s going on with that weird combover hair.

  36. quimby February 16, 2018 at 00:46 #

Yes! So good to see her nail it.

  37. Fanny February 16, 2018 at 00:41 #

This is very reminiscent of the dress Alicia Vikander wore at the SAG awards two years ago, also Luis Vuitton, and I liked that dress more.
Loving the white eyeshadow here though.

    • Mimi February 16, 2018 at 00:46 #

+1, I totally agree. Alicia’s dress is the one and only LV dress I’ve liked/loved.

    • Lashae February 16, 2018 at 03:45 #

I was thinking the same thing about it being very similar to Alicia’s SAG dress (also as you I like Alicia’s dress more)

  38. Caroline February 16, 2018 at 00:41 #

Perfection! This blew me away. BDOTW.
