Michelle Obama In Carolina Herrera - White House State Dinner

The White House State Dinner has become a date in the diary that I value as much as any major red carpet event, because it’s when the First Lady really gets to shine.

I mean, who can forget that jaw-dropping Alexander McQueen gown Michelle Obama wore back in 2011 or the Marchesa dress worn in 2012?

The First Lady didn’t disappoint at the State Dinner hosted in honor of French President Francois Hollande on Tuesday evening (February 11), wearing a dramatic Carolina Herrera ball gown with Sutra jewels.

Her gown featured a black beaded embroidery appliqué scallop-edged top over a liberty-blue silk faille corset with a wide black velvet belt detail and liberty blue silk faille inverted pleat long skirt and train. This is certainly one for the record books.

Oozing class, femininity and sleeves (some may be delighted to learn), this look hits all the right style notes and is certainly worthy of such a regal occasion.

Along with Cate Blanchett, Michelle gives me many goosebump– inducing moments of which this ranks quite highly.

Michelle Obama In J Mendel - TNT’s Christmas in Washington 2013

The Obamas attended TNT’s Christmas in Washington 2013 hosted by Anna Kendrick at the National Building Museum on Sunday (December 15) in Washington, DC, where Sheryl Crow performed.

Perhaps not as often as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, but Michelle Obama is also known to repeat her looks.

On this occasion, the First Lady wore the same J. Mendel Resort 2013 look we first saw her wear to the pre-Olympics reception prior to the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games back in July last year.

Her white tailored jacket with overlapped side panels and silver embroidery was paired with an ivory pleated skirt and styled with the same metallic-silver Manolo Blahnik pumps.

Michelle Obama In Marchesa - The 36th Kennedy Center Honors Gala

Michelle Obama was the belle of the ball at the 36th Kennedy Center Honors Gala held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. on Sunday evening.

The First Lady never fails at leaving me in awe.

On this occasion she looked radiant wearing an emerald off the shoulder Marchesa silk chiffon Grecian gown which she styled with a beautiful silver necklace and drop earrings.

I’m loving the big curls which gave her hair plenty of volume.

Effortless, elegant and regal as always.

Who Wore Carolina Herrera Better Michelle Obama or Crystal Reed

Michelle Obama wore a Carolina Herrera navy-and-silver wave-pattern dress featuring bow accents and a square neckline from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection for the dinner hosted by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel back in June.

She styled the look with kitten heels – naturally – and a pair of drop earrings which perfectly complemented the dress.

Crystal Reed – who has had several memorable Carolina Herrera moments – wore the same dress to the BAFTA LA TV Tea Party last month.

She kept her styling just as simple, opting for stud earrings.

You may remember that I thought this dress was a tad too twee for the First Lady. I much prefer this dress on the ‘Teen Wolf’ actress as it suits her sweet girlie-girl style.

Michelle Obama In Tory Burch & Eva Longoria In Camilla and Marc - Drink Up Initiative

The First Lady, Michelle Obama, was joined by actress Eva Longoria on a visit to Watertown High School in Watertown, Wisconsin as part of the Drink Up initiative to encourage people to drink more water last week.

For the event, Mrs O wore a blue tie-dye Tory Burch ‘Jasmyn’ midi shirtdress with a pleated skirt and retro silhouette.

This dress has more to it than meets the eye as the tie-dye fabric was developed in collaboration with women tie-dyers of the Republic of Guinea to benefit the ‘There is no Limit Foundation’.

Eva was equally colourful, wearing a Camilla and Marc ‘Amphora’ orange dress from the Australian brand’s Fall 2013 collection which features cap sleeves and a wrap skirt notched at the hem.

She styled the look with subtle gold jewels and a half-up, half-down ‘do.
