Fan Bingbing In Christopher Bu – 2015 Met Gala

Fan Bingbing In Chris by Christopher Bu - 2015 Met Gala

Fan Bingbing took an impressive spin down the red carpet of the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala, hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4)

Wearing a look from one of her favoured go-to designers, Christopher Bu, the Chinese actress was exquisite in a golden-bronze embellished column gown.

Despite the high-octane shine of the dress, the ornately embroidered, jewel-toned cape was the most riveting piece of the ensemble, which she styled perfectly with Chopard jewels and, of course, a Louis Vuitton clutch.

I was mesmerized by her entrance which was dazzlingly impressive enough for the Met while still walking on the right side of the theme and maintaining an aura of richly refined elegance, unlike some of the ensembles we saw last night.

SHE TOOK MY BREATH AWAY,AMAZING AWESOME PERFECTION,BEST DRESSED OF THE YEAR,HANDS DOWNS,SHE IS THE QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Phoenix May 6, 2015 at 01:48 #

It astonishes me that Fan Bingbing and Zhang Ziyi were at the same event as Beyonce, Kim, Jlo, Miley, etc, etc. The styles were so different.
Beyonce and tack company looked like they belonged in a nightclub/music awards show.
Only Bingbing and Ziyi and a couple others felt like they belonged here.

Bingbing and Ziyi showed complete class, elegance, drama with respect. They still got plenty of attention without showing off their asses!!

Staying on theme, and RESPECT for the theme, that’s all I was asking for!

    • Phoenix May 6, 2015 at 02:10 #

Ziyi is still my #1 fave. Her gown was breathtaking and the more I look at pictures of it the more I love/covet/worship it.

Bingbings is an extremely close second.

This look alone is worth all of the atrocities I had to witness on this event. Between half naked attention seekers and a bunch of people who couldn’t care less about the theme and only cared about looking pretty, it’s good to see someone actually knows how to look absolutely regal and respect the theme of the night at the same time. Queen of the night and BDOTY contender.

  4. isik5 May 5, 2015 at 22:19 #

Totally BDOTN, BDOTN. It’s just perfect.

Fan Bing Bing slayed the red carpet last night. She really showcased the world that the fashion industry in China has progressed much better compared to a decade before. This Christopher Bu gown took half a year to produce; the cape is hand-sewn adorned with jewels and fine silk. She also revived class for the MET ball; she showed that you don’t need to be half naked to attract all the attention like other contenders last night (ahem Kim, JLO, Queen B). Hands down BDOTW or BDOTY contender!! Bravo! This is art and everything that she exudes from this is just beautiful.

    • charlotte May 6, 2015 at 02:36 #

      YES!!!!YOU ARE RIGHT!
It such joy to see Fan got her red carpet mojo back!
In an exclusive interview with Vogue China, the creator of this dress–Christopher Bu revealed his inspiration for this particular ensemble, which is the ancient art of brackets painting used on the interiors of the Forbidden City. The patterns and colors on Fan’s cape could be seen in any major palaces and royal gardens in both China and Korea.
It’s such a relief to see someone who fully embraced the theme of the event without trying too hard.

  6. Prudence May 5, 2015 at 21:37 #

BDOTY and to be added on a best dressed of the decade list.

She should front Vogue’s met gala issue cause she is clearly the winner of the night. Sadly, I know the honor will be given to Rih. She looked great but Fan took it to new heights. This is otherworldly!!!

  7. George May 5, 2015 at 21:31 #

Thank you for saving the whole event, given that most celebrities there seemed like they didn’t even bother to check what the theme was. BDOTY, need I say more?
P.S. In order to fully appreciate the pure artistry of the magnificent dress, try not to picture what kind of hooker heels are underneath it.

  8. Carolina May 5, 2015 at 21:06 #

EASILY best dressed. I’m shocked that Vogue didn’t include her on their annual Best Dressed list.

  9. MEME May 5, 2015 at 20:38 #

This look was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!!! I loved EVERYTHING!!!! Best Dressed of the Entire Event.

  10. pinksugar May 5, 2015 at 20:34 #

This is easily in my top 5 favorites of the night. She stuck to the theme without causing a spectacle. Absolutely beautiful.

  11. Lee-Shay May 5, 2015 at 20:26 #

This is utterly gorgeous. If anyone was going to nail this theme it was going to be her. Truly the best dressed of the night and a firm BDOTY contender.

  12. Cindy May 5, 2015 at 20:20 #

I too gasped and said “Wooooow!!!!” Perfection.

  13. TeaAtTwo May 5, 2015 at 20:17 #

I actually let out a little gasp when I saw this. It’s such a beautiful look. She looks regal.

  14. Arina May 5, 2015 at 20:09 #

Pure perfection! Best of the night and will definitely go on my BDOTY list. Class, refinement, innovation, respect for the theme – it has everything!

  15. Fiona-Brasil May 5, 2015 at 19:39 #

    Dazzling!Dramatic and exquisite look!My favorite!

  16. Marcel May 5, 2015 at 19:38 #

She looks MAGNIFICENT !! Truly spectacular. BDOTY nominee.

  17. Amanda May 5, 2015 at 19:37 #

This is simply exquisite. I still prefer Zhang Ziyi’s.

But this is how you do true drama, flair and pay homage to a theme. It makes SJP’s look kinda clownish and costume-y in comparison.

  18. Joanna May 5, 2015 at 19:24 #

The DRAMA QUEEN’s back! This time, it was in a good way, lol.

  19. Pedro May 5, 2015 at 19:17 #

    This is epic!

    BDOTY

  20. zoe May 5, 2015 at 19:08 #

    bdoty nominee!

  21. Ariya May 5, 2015 at 19:00 #

    Gorgeous! Amazing! Fabulous!
This was onto my BDOTY folder when I saw it on Vogue.

She looks she came to life from a glass painting! Work of Art!

What an amazing way to make her Met Gala debut. One of the best of all times!

  22. Prettykrazee May 5, 2015 at 18:59 #

This is Divine! BDOTY worthy for sure. After so many disappointing off theme looks Fan brought a smile to my face. This is the perfect Met Gala look!

  23. Jeremy May 5, 2015 at 18:54 #

This is probably my favourite of the night, as well. I adore the gold and I’m living for the GLORY that is that cape. Certainly the best dressed at the event, methinks.

  24. Laraine May 5, 2015 at 18:50 #

I don’t LOVE it, personally, but I can recognize that she brought the drama and fit the theme, so it’s a definite win.

    • Nat39 May 5, 2015 at 21:03 #

It’s good but somehow I don’t Love it…whether it’s the hair or the cape, not sure, plus it’s an expected stereotypical representation – bold gold, green, satin…

  25. Aline May 5, 2015 at 18:30 #

Of course that we still have Cannes ahead of us, but I am so completely utterly madly in love with this look that I doubt another one will top it as my BDOTY.

That cape is what true art is made of. I’m so blown away by the beauty and concept of it, I can’t even find the proper adjectives.

Fan sometimes gets it wrong with her OTT-ness, but when she gets it right, she slays.

  26. james May 5, 2015 at 18:23 #

Beyond perfection! Will remember this look for years to come. BDOTY for me, at the top of my list for now on. Last woman who made my heart skip a beat was Luputa Ny’Ongo with her Ralph Lauren red dress at the Golden Globes and her Gucci dress at the Sag Awards.

  27. Patricia May 5, 2015 at 18:21 #

Best of the night for me.

  28. Badaboum May 5, 2015 at 18:14 #

Obviously Best Dressed of the Week, and very likely one of the Best Dressed of the Year

  29. MG May 5, 2015 at 18:13 #

    BDOTY! So stunning

  30. Christy May 5, 2015 at 18:09 #

Yes! I was waiting for you to post this.

Best Dressed of the Event, and maybe even the Week.

  31. Yeliz May 5, 2015 at 18:04 #

This is absolutely divine, she took my breath away. She looks perfect. My favourite of the night and BDOTY-worthy.

  32. from-chitown May 5, 2015 at 17:47 #

She slayed it – totally on point. Definitely a contender for BDOTY. She was my fave of the night.

  33. Joy May 5, 2015 at 17:45 #

Now here is a spectacular Met Gala worthy dress! Leave it to my girl Fan to bring it & save the night. Love the dress & cape/coat combination.

  34. Ana May 5, 2015 at 17:14 #

This is beyond gorgeous and over dramatic. Love it!

  35. Chiliam May 5, 2015 at 17:12 #

Best dress of the night for sure. Classy, Elegant, Glamour, Perfectly on theme. She serves everything. Will save this in BDOTY folder

  36. Chris May 5, 2015 at 17:08 #

Definitely one of the best of the evening.

  37. EmmaWoodhouse May 5, 2015 at 17:04 #

This gorgeous look makes me so ready for Cannes.

  38. Anne May 5, 2015 at 17:01 #

A great look for the night. The colors are so rich and vibrant. This makes her appear much more statuesque than she is. Definitely among my favorites of the evening. May we never see what shoes that gown is hiding.

      +1

and for that last sentence +++++++++1

  39. Lisa May 5, 2015 at 17:00 #

The best dressed of the night imo. Totally glamorous and relating to the theme of the event. So many disappointments with this night, with tacky & desparate (JLo, Bey, KK), totally OFF theme (Elizabeth Banks), and completely underwhelming (Jennifer Lawrence). The entire event needs a refresh.

    She looks spectacular!

  42. Salimah May 5, 2015 at 16:50 #

HEAD to TOE PERFECTION♥ such grace and class….just wow. perfect for the MET ball

  43. justme May 5, 2015 at 16:50 #

That’s my best dressed!!! Stunning and dramatic. I had the biggest smile on when I saw her lol.

It’s no surprise that the Chinese actresses are the ones that got the theme perfectly.

    • msj May 5, 2015 at 20:28 #

actually, all the Chinese actresses wore western style fashions sans eastern theme.

  44. EmmaWoodhouse May 5, 2015 at 16:49 #

BLESS THIS! BDOTY for sure. OMG this is perfection–and 100% on theme in such a beautiful and perfect way. I am in awe and so glad someone shut it down last night. 😀

I think she is head to toe perfection. The best thing is that the dress is long enough to hide the stripper heels she loves to wear. BDOTW

    • jhh36 May 5, 2015 at 17:48 #

This is one of her best looks ever. She brought the drama. I was thinking the same thing about the shoes.

  46. Alina May 5, 2015 at 16:48 #

THIS is how it’s done. Her most memorable look since the stunning Chinese-inspired dress at Cannes from years ago which introduced us to her.

  47. Caroline May 5, 2015 at 16:47 #

    Such a mess.

    • Kat May 5, 2015 at 16:55 #

How on earth is this considered a mess? I’m pretty sure she slayed almost everyone at this event.

      • Caroline May 5, 2015 at 17:55 #

Well I though I was commenting on Kerry Washington’s. Messed up the pages, I think. This did slay indeed. She looked on-theme and all eyes were on her look.

  48. Trinny May 5, 2015 at 16:47 #
