Uma Thurman In Atelier Versace – 2015 Met Gala

"China: Through The Looking Glass" Costume Institute Benefit Gala - Arrivals

Uma Thurman attended the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala, hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

Her Atelier Versace asymmetrical white v-neck gown, an interpretation of a classic Chinese Hanfu with its wrapped tie waist and robe sleeve, provided an understated yet still effective nod towards the evening’s theme.

Sophisticated and seductive, the sleek dress was all the more admirable in that it portrayed not the hint of try-hard.

Jade green tassel earrings provided another subtle ode to China with glossy Alexandre Birman sandals completing the look.

This dress is an interpretation of a classic Chinese Hanfu which is very on theme

  2. Guest May 22, 2019 at 7:09 am #

I fail to see any Chinese Hanfu influence whatsoever.

She dressed so timelessly for her age. Hats off to Uma Thurman for keeping the look classic while still acknowledging the ‘China: Through The Looking Glass’ theme!

    She looks beautiful.

This is beautiful but totally expected. A little too understated for the event. But in a color or, I don’t know, gold lamé??? (call me crazy but a girl can dream), I would have been into it.

Clean, crisp, statuesque and quietly on theme. Absolutely beautiful.

I love it. She is understated elegance and sophistication.
Some people have the class, some don’t and some others don’t even try.

See??? Class and one can still stay on theme, no matter its subtle….its a same-y silhouette for her yet with the theme going on…not my fave, but I appreciate her try more than alot of the other gals I saw.

Wow – one of the best at the Met. She completely owns the dress and the carpet.

Her marriage to Versace is one the most successful relationships in the industry. She always looks sexy and elegant at the same time. Hard to pull off!

She looks divine. Hands up for the embodiment of Hanfu in the impeccable design. At first I thought the dress could be in a bolder color to highlight the details, but the more I look at it the more the subtleness and elegance strikes me as conveying a true Chinese aesthetic.

Am I the only one who’s obsessing over her other missing leg?

I’m not particularly sold on the clutch or the sleeve, but she does look great!

This looked good on her but I think she could’ve done better and she could’ve actually stuck to the theme.
