Julianna Margulies In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2012 Emmy Awards

My reaction to Julianna Margulies on the red carpet at the 2012 Emmy Awards on Sunday evening was simply, ‘WOW’.

I can’t believe this is the same woman who would only either wear just black or just Narciso Rodriguez in black on the red carpet.

On this occasion she was regal and radiant wearing a Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture gown.

Her beautiful floral strapless gown was styled with Fred Leighton jewels and eggplant Brian Atwood ‘Karin’ platform sandals.

Picking a best dressed from this event is going to be near impossible.

I really like this. I understand people who don’t and I get why some people are thinking bedspread or sofa but she really stood out from the crowd. The only thing I’m iffy about is the seam down the middle.

Gorgeous dress, beautiful woman, one of the best dressed of the night.

  3. Sonya September 25, 2012 at 00:53 #

Why does she always insist on that severe hairstyle? She looks so matronly and her angles so blunt.

  4. EmmaWoodhouse September 24, 2012 at 23:26 #

Surprised many are hating it so–I think that the print is beautiful. I only wish that 1) she had taken her hands out of her pockets and 2) she had worn a gold belt with it.
One of the best of the night regardless.

  5. Jones19 September 24, 2012 at 22:09 #

I’m not a fan of the print but I do applaud her for stepping so far out of her comfort zone.

  6. Aline September 24, 2012 at 21:39 #

I’m not one for florals but I absolutely love this. It’s one of her best looks for sure.

  7. Su Williams September 24, 2012 at 21:09 #

The dress is incredible, the fabric so rich and intricate. Very elegant.

  8. El September 24, 2012 at 21:07 #

She looks amazing. The dress is perfect and the print couldn’t be more dreamy. And I love the fact that there are pockets…

  9. Christine September 24, 2012 at 20:47 #

Glad she step out of her comfort zone. This dress can either work or don’t. I am leaning on the work fence.

  10. noo September 24, 2012 at 20:47 #

I adore this dress! And I agree, this is the most exciting red carpet in a while!

  11. rita September 24, 2012 at 20:10 #

She’s definately my best dressed for the simple reason that she LITERALLY stands out from the bunch. It’s different from everyone and it flatters her figure! PERFECT!

    • Miss M September 25, 2012 at 10:51 #

      My thoughts exactly!
      Gorgeous Julianna!

I’m in the love camp, this reminds me of Monet painting rather than bedspread. I like that shape of the skirt isn’t the usual column or fishtail and a pleasure to see print on the redcarpet too.

You guys had to have seen the close up detail when she did her interview with E! the fabric is gorgeous. Fits like a glove absolutely stunning movement and silhouette. It was to DIE for. Absolutely died for this look. By far the BDOTNight for me.

This seemed to get a lot of negative “sofa fabric” reviews on twitter, but I liked it. It could use a belt to break things up a bit, but otherwise I thought this worked.

  15. Lisa September 24, 2012 at 17:43 #

I am not crazy about this, I think the fabric looks too heavy

  16. Hannah September 24, 2012 at 16:55 #

ITa that choosing a best dressed from this will be near impossible. I could make a BDOTY list with just this one night – it more than makes up for the, IMO, bland and forgettable Met Gala.

  17. Andreea September 24, 2012 at 16:45 #

    WOW !

  18. Marybeth September 24, 2012 at 16:44 #

My immediate reaction upon seeing this was “Hey! Someone is wearing my grandmother’s bedspread!”
I see that others here are reminded of a sofa. So I think it’s clear that this print is problematic.

I am nevertheless delighted to see Juliana stepping outside of her dreary comfort zone and looking relaxed and confident while she does it. With her poise, her smile, and her elegant styling, the overall look is very nice.

+3. Somehow it looked gold on my TV last night and I love it. My sister thought I had lost my marbles.
This looks like something my Aunt Margie would have whipped up on her Singer for the guest bedroom.

Love GV, love that she took a risk. But in green? No.

  19. Moxie September 24, 2012 at 16:05 #

Not sure I love the fabric — but I’m thrilled she tried something different. The look is missing something. A belt maybe?

  20. Charlotte September 24, 2012 at 15:48 #

When we saw this dress my friends and I we all thought is was hideous, the worst of the evening.
I’m really surprised to see that (almost) everybody here semme to like this dress !

The fabric looks like an old sofa and the fit is not great around her waist.

  22. lu September 24, 2012 at 15:46 #

Great look, very relaxed and elegant.

  23. rebecca o September 24, 2012 at 15:45 #

    love it.

  24. Andrea September 24, 2012 at 15:38 #

    Ah, stunning!

But it would have been epic for real if she had put a butterfly on the mouth, as seen on the catwalk 🙂

  26. Mara September 24, 2012 at 15:34 #

Sorry, but she seems to be wearing the fabric of a sofa

    • Sally September 24, 2012 at 16:03 #

Agree, except that I see a bedspread.

    • Moxie September 24, 2012 at 20:48 #

Looks like a Monet painting to me.

  27. gabis September 24, 2012 at 15:29 #

I’m wowing for the fact that she is finally wearing something that flatters her figure. I’m not crazy about the floral print, but I love, LOVE the design and the fitting of that dress, absolutely flawless and amazing. The styling is simple and elegant which works perfectly with the rest of the look. Based on the desription of her shoes, I suspect I’m gonna hate them,so I’m glad they’re covered by the dress. Never thought I would say this but she is for sure one of the best dressed.

  28. roxy September 24, 2012 at 15:22 #

It’s a beautiful dress and looks great on her but I just can’t get past those tan lines

  29. chryssa September 24, 2012 at 15:19 #

    A great choice!she looks stunning!

  30. CreoleLady September 24, 2012 at 15:16 #

Good for her. Although the print is too much like a bedspread for me,  I do like the colors and her styling.

  31. Sabina September 24, 2012 at 15:15 #

  32. Yeliz September 24, 2012 at 15:15 #

I’m desperately missing a belt, but other than that she looks stunning and I’m so glad that she tried something different.

    • Hannah September 24, 2012 at 16:34 #

I totally agree, I love it but it needs a belt imo.
