Gemma Arterton’s ‘Byzantium’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere Hair

Gemma Arterton attended the premiere of her new movie, Byzantium at the Toronto Film Festival on Sunday in an old school Hollywood Antonio Berardi gown.

And while the Bond actress kept her makeup classic too, with a glamorous cat’s eye and Bordeaux lips, hairstylist Alex Polillo took a more relaxed approach to her hair, opting for a gorgeous beachy wave.

He spoke to us about how he achieved this laid back look:

‘To start I misted her hair with a saltwater spray (try Charlotte Ronson’s A Perfect Mess Beach Hair) and split it into four equal sections. I then braided each section loosely and secured the braids at the bottom.’

‘Next I used a hairdryer to dry the braids and also to give some heat to set the waves. After the hair was completely dry and had cooled down, I unbraided the sections and shook out her hair.’

‘I touched up the super crazy pieces with a large barrel curling iron to give it more of a languid look and then used some Leonor Greyl Eclat Naturel styling cream to piece out the texture.’

‘I finished off the look with some Frederik Fekkai Sheer Hold hairspray.’
