Naomi Ackie Makes a Case for Knee-High Boots on the Red Carpet

It’s turning out to be a busy month for Naomi Ackie, who was promoting I Love Boosters in London last week before returning to the red carpet in Hollywood last night for the Clayface world premiere.

This might surprise a lot of you, but I actually love this Gucci Pre-Fall 2026 look on the British actress, and it’s the styling that sells it to me.

Naomi has that sophisticated, cool-girl edge to her, which makes this asymmetric dress with its daring thigh-high slit – a Demna signature for the Italian fashion house – a natural fit for her.

But it’s the Gucci boots and tights that really make this look interesting.

Yes, I am a certified sandals girl, but with a slit this high, I think the boots are a much more interesting choice. They become part of the silhouette, filling the exposed space with black leather and giving the dress an edge that sandals wouldn’t have achieved.

For me, this is one of those occasions where the footwear makes all the difference. The dress might have gone under the radar without those boots, and I never thought I’d be saying that about a pair of knee-highs.

Would you have preferred sandals, or are you with me on the boots?

Diamond and emerald earrings completed her look.

Stylist: Nicky Yates.
