Marion Cotillard Keeps It Classic, But Not Quite Simple

Marion Cotillard attended the Karma photocall held at Pathé Palace in Paris on Tuesday.

We’ve seen two of our favourite French actresses, Virginie Efira and Noémie Merlant, wearing black this week, and Marion is the latest to join them.

But while her Chanel satin trench coat follows the same colour story, the green and silver embellishments scattered across the glossy fabric give it a completely different character, while the signature CC buttons adds a recognisable detail.

What I particularly like is how the embellishments elevate what would otherwise have been a fairly classic black trench coat. The belted waist, relaxed sleeves and knee-length silhouette keep everything understated, but those little flashes of colour make the look far more interesting.

This is the easy elegance we’ve come to expect from Marion, and I appreciate that she hasn’t tried to do too much with it.
