Charlotte Gainsbourg Goes Full-Length in Saint Laurent

Charlotte Gainsbourg attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 Busan International Film Festival in South Korea today, and naturally, she was wearing Saint Laurent.

Charlotte Goes Long

The French actress layered her sheer black lace Saint Laurent gown over a bodysuit, and my first thought was that this wasn’t Charlotte’s usual M.O. It didn’t take long for a look through her archive to prove me wrong. She wore a shorter sheer black lace Saint Laurent dress to the Emilia Pérez Cannes premiere in 2024, which she attended alongside Anthony Vaccarello.

What actually feels different here is the length. We are so accustomed to seeing Charlotte in shorter silhouettes that a full-length gown registers as a departure. Technically, we can still see her legs through the lace, but the real novelty here is simply seeing Charlotte in a gown, something she almost never wears.

A Saint Laurent Letter pouch and pumps completed her look.

Back In Familiar Territory

This second Saint Laurent look feels much more closely associated with Charlotte’s signature style. The lavallière blouse, leather shorts and Saint Laurent Vendôme slingbacks are all pieces that sit naturally within her wardrobe.

If the Busan gown showed us a different side to Charlotte, this is the Charlotte we know best: uncomplicated, polished with and edge, and built around the pieces she has returned to throughout her long relationship with the house.
