Caitríona Balfe’s Red Prabal Gurung Dress at ‘Tenzing’ Premiere

While her Sense & Sensibility co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones was in Sydney, Caitríona Balfe was in London attending the premiere of her other film, Tenzing, held at The Curzon Mayfair.

Red has always been a great colour for Caitríona. Her Saint Laurent look from the 2022 SAG Awards lives rent-free in my mind, along with Prabal Gurung at the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Louis Vuitton for Outlander, and even that gorgeous ruffled Alberta Ferretti dress for Good Morning America.

She turned to Prabal Gurung once again, selecting this red mock-neck dress from his Spring 2027 collection.

If your first reaction is, “Nice colour, but not much is going on,” I’ll give you that – until you see the dress from the side. As the saying goes, this is where the magic happens.

From the front, the dress presents as a relatively simple column, but the second angle reveals the cocoon shape, the dramatic open sides and the bandeau-style construction sitting beneath the draped upper part.

I love a dress that makes you look twice, and this is a perfect example. What initially appears simple has a completely different identity from the side.

The black pumps wouldn’t have been my first choice – a sandal would have been my preference – but they don’t take away from how much I enjoy this on her.
