Dakota Johnson Is Dripping in Crystal Fringe for the ‘Verity’ Premiere

Dakota Johnson joined Anne Hathaway for the Verity New York premiere, held at AMC Lincoln Square 13 this evening.

The actress wore her second custom Calvin Klein Collection look in a matter of days, following her guest appearance at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, and this one was definitely not sheer.

The white two-piece continues Dakota’s preference for lighter tones as we head into autumn. After the sheer Colleen Allen dress in London, followed by blush Calvin Klein at the VMAs, she’s now moved into white, with iridescent sequin embroidery and crystal fringe creating a waterfall effect across the top and high-slit column skirt.

I’m also convinced there’s something behind the contrast between Dakota and Anne Hathaway’s looks. Anne, who leads the film as Lowen Ashleigh, arrived in black, while Dakota, who plays Verity Crawford, is in ivory. Considering the psychological dynamic between their characters, those opposing colours feel like more than a coincidence.

At first, I thought the top had an illusion neckline, with a line of crystals tracing the collarbone. On closer inspection, that sparkle is actually Dakota’s Roberto Coin necklace, which sits so perfectly with the bralette that it almost appears to be part of the design.

I’m enjoying this Dakota x Calvin Klein union, as the partnership has taken her somewhere completely different. And honestly, I’m glad we’re getting something outside the Alessandro Michele maximalism.
