Daisy Edgar-Jones Makes a Case for This Alaïa Silhouette

Daisy Edgar-Jones was spotted at Wendy’s Secret Garden in Sydney today, where she attended the Sense and Sensibility photocall.

Sydney photocalls usually make the Opera House the obvious backdrop, but Wendy’s Secret Garden feels particularly fitting for Sense and Sensibility. Its lush setting offers a subtle connection to the film’s English countryside without trying to recreate its period setting.

I’m sure you instantly recognised this as Alaïa Fall 2026 dress for one of two reasons. Either it was the asymmetrical pleated skirt, which we also saw on Emily Blunt’s halterneck version during her Disclosure Day press tour in Paris back in June, or those Alaïa mesh pumps, which have become something of a celebrity favourite.

I wasn’t sold on Emily’s version of this dress, but Daisy’s has changed my mind. Putting the two side by side, I think the deciding factor is the balance between bodice and skirt. Daisy’s long-sleeved, high-neck version gives us more body and less skirt, so the tiers don’t dominate the entire look. The proportions feel better suited to the design, and I find this version far more appealing.

What I’m also enjoying is how Daisy’s Sense and Sensibility wardrobe is evolving. The earlier looks leaned into period references that made sense for a Jane Austen adaptation, with two Vivienne Westwood looks taking us into that world at the start of the tour. Since then, the looks have felt true to Daisy’s own style, which those of you who grow tired of method dressing for an entire press tour will appreciate.

Her new, curlier hairstyle also works beautifully here, while the fresh makeup is exactly what this ivory look needed.

This might be my favourite look of this tour.
