This Might Be My Favourite Charli XCX Era Yet

Charli XCX attended the 2026 MTV VMAs on Sunday, where she is nominated for Best Pop and Best Art Direction for SS26, as well as Best Long Form Video for Music, Fashion, Film. She is also presenting during the ceremony.

If you’ve been here long enough, you’ve really seen Charli XCX’s style evolve. There was the rebellious era, the Vivienne Westwood phase, the big gowns, and then, of course, Brat, which established an aesthetic all its own. Now, we’re firmly in the Saint Laurent era.

And I have to say, it suits her.

There’s still that smouldering rebellion, but Saint Laurent has taken her style in a sexier, more refined direction without erasing the Charli we’ve followed over the years. She doesn’t look as though she is trying to revisit an earlier version of herself, nor does she look disconnected from it.

This is easily one of my favourite looks from Charli. It feels like the natural progression of everything that came before.
