Emma Laird’s Understated Approach at the ‘War’ Premiere
Emma Laird joined fellow British actress Sienna Miller on the red carpet last night for the world premiere of War, held at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London.

Since Emma arrived on the scene, we have known her primarily as a Louis Vuitton girl, wearing the kind of runway looks that many of the house ambassadors – aside from Jennifer Connelly – don’t wear. But I have noticed a shift recently. Even while wearing Louis Vuitton, the mood and silhouettes that Emma has presented have softened, and that evolution took another step forward with this Celine strapless bustier dress.
What makes this work for Emma is that she doesn’t disappear behind the simplicity of the dress. There isn’t much to it in terms of design, so the success of the look rests almost entirely on the wearer.

You may remember that Mackenzie Davis wore a blue Celine dress with a similar silhouette during the Venice Film Festival, and I wasn’t enamoured by it. It just felt bland to me, even with the addition of a necklace.
Here, there is no jewellery at all. Just a red lip, an updo and a lot more presence, which ultimately sells the look to me.

Some might feel that the pale-yellow hue washes her out, but I strongly disagree.
Stylist: Petra Flannery.
