Cynthia Nixon Takes on Issey Miyake’s Pleats at the Emmys

Cynthia Nixon attended the 2026 Emmy Awards following the third season of her TV show, The Gilded Age, which was among the shows represented at this year’s ceremony.

The actress tends not to play it safe on the red carpet, which is why this Issey Miyake Fall 2026 dress comes as no surprise.

It’s a tricky silhouette to pull off because the way the pleated panels fall can completely change the shape of the dress. Cynthia handled it with ease, and I love how the asymmetry and volume look different from every angle. The deep burgundy colour makes it even more appealing to me, especially at this time of year.

The shoes are where she loses me. Those iconic Manolo Blahnik pumps may have a special place in Cynthia’s fashion history, but neither the colour nor the style works with this dress. I would have preferred something far less traditional and more minimal against such an unconventional silhouette.

But honestly, the shoes aren’t enough to prevent this from being one of my favourite looks of the night.
