Hsieh Ying-Xuan’s Venice Style for ‘Arrested Memory’
Hsieh Ying-Xuan attended the Venice Film Festival with her co-star Ethan Juan to promote her upcoming film Arrested Memory, giving us two very different fashion moments along the way.

Photocall
Hsieh Ying-Xuan’s Chanel Pre-Fall 2026 pinstriped suit was such an unexpectedly cool moment. I love the character of this look on her and how she didn’t try to soften it by removing the tie. The oversized trousers and strong shoulders could easily have overwhelmed her, but the proportions work.
The only thing not working for me here is the Chanel two-tone shoes. This is the one time I will advocate for the black-and-white version, or even simple black pumps, as the suit should remain the sole focus.

Premiere
Hsieh switched gears entirely for the premiere in this acid-green velvet gown from the Maison Margiela Fall 2026 collection. Between the colour, cowl neckline and balloon sleeves, this was always going to have presence on the red carpet, with her jewellery elevating the look further.

Her co-star Ethan Juan also wore a look from the Maison Margiela Fall 2026 collection. I love the contemporary, undone nature of it all, which plays against the formality of the occasion, and I’m particularly enamoured with how the white shawl-collar tuxedo jacket is fused with a second-skin jersey layer.

The trousers would have benefited from some tailoring, but you may be distracted by the black leather Tabi lace-up shoes, which you’re either going to love or hate.
