Meadow Walker & Jordana Brewster Lead ‘Fast & Furious’ Style

Following the screening held during the Cannes Film Festival, the 25th anniversary celebrations for The Fast And The Furious continued in Los Angeles last night, with a screening at the Westwood Village Theatre. The cast reunited for the occasion, and the fashion ranged from full glamour to looks that could have come straight from the franchise itself.

Chewbacca Chic

Meadow Walker was channelling her inner Chewbacca in these heavily fringed leather Bottega Veneta trousers, and I have a feeling most of you are recoiling in horror. But I kinda love them, if I’m honest.

And it mostly comes down to Meadow herself. Her style has always had an offbeat, fashion-forward streak, and as a model, she has the height and presence to wear most things. What works most here is that she didn’t overstyle them. A simple white tank top, silver jewels and Bottega Veneta Grace sandals allowed the trousers to do all the talking.

Practical for a summer premiere? Perhaps not. But she sold them to me anyway.

Lace, Take Two

If Meadow is the fashion girl, then Jordana Brewster is the glamour girl, and on this occasion that came in a sultrier form courtesy of this sheer, asymmetrical lace dress from the Monse Resort 2027 collection.

I know some of you are screaming for this to be lined, as the visible-underwear trend has long worn out its welcome for many. But this follows Jordana’s M.O. while promoting the film. She wore black lace for the Cannes screening, so this feels like a continuation of that theme.

Fast & Familiar

Michelle Rodriguez will always go glam in Europe, but when she’s stateside, the biker jacket, jeans, tank top and sneakers combination is her premiere go-to.

She knows exactly what she likes, and after 25 years with this franchise, there is something fitting about Michelle arriving dressed like she could jump straight behind the wheel. I wouldn’t expect anything else from her at this point.

Satin Situation

A satin suit is notoriously difficult to pull off, but Tyrese Gibson gave it his best shot in this teal shawl-collar suit.

I would have been sympathetic to the creases – with satin, they are almost inevitable – but the trouser length is where he fully lost me. A trip to the tailor would have made a considerable difference, because there is simply too much fabric pooling over the shoes. The colour, however, was a great choice for a summer screening.
