Lexi Minetree Wore Dolce & Gabbana To The Prime Video Celebration of ‘Legally Blonde’ & ‘Elle World’
Lexi Minetree is quickly developing a pattern as she steps into the role of Elle Woods. Yes, there has been plenty of pink, but there has also been a noticeable commitment to fashion history, with archival pieces and carefully chosen references helping to connect the new Elle to the original.
At the immersive Elle World event held at Hall des Lumières in New York City to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Legally Blonde and the upcoming Prime Video prequel series, Lexi joined Reese Witherspoon while delivering two fashion references that feel entirely in keeping with the world of Elle Woods.

Pink Sequins, Full Circle
Lexi wore the pink version of the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2000 sequinned mini dress (from Vintage Heritage) originally seen in blue on Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods during the boutique shopping scene in Legally Blonde.
It is one of the film’s lesser-discussed fashion moments, overshadowed by the pink courtroom looks and Harvard wardrobe, yet it remains instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with the film. By selecting the pink version rather than the blue, Lexi managed to acknowledge the original while staying firmly within Elle’s pink realm.
The ruby sequins, crystal belt detail and delicate straps retain all the early-2000s glamour of the original collection. More importantly, the choice demonstrates that Lexi and her styling team understand that nostalgia works best when the references feel specific.
At a time when many young actresses rely on contemporary collections, she is already establishing a reputation for pulling meaningful archival pieces that contribute to the storytelling surrounding the role.

Archival Elle Energy
Earlier in the day, Lexi wore a modified Dolce & Gabbana Spring 1995 dress from the Vintage Heritage archive.
The original runway design featured a longer silhouette and was famously worn in lilac by Madonna to the 1995 Academy Awards. More recently, Lizzo wore the chocolate-brown version to celebrate her birthday in 2021.
Lexi’s modified interpretation was shortened for a more youthful feel. The powder-blue shade, crystal embellishment and feathered stole immediately evoke late-1990s and early-2000s red-carpet glamour.

As for a direct Legally Blonde connection, there is no obvious costume reference within the film itself. However, the icy-blue palette, marabou texture and overt femininity feel aligned with the hyper-glamorous aesthetic of the late 1990s and early 2000s, referencing the era that introduced Elle Woods.
The strongest aspect of these appearances is that neither look feels like costume dressing. Instead, Lexi is building a visual language around the character through archival fashion, allowing the past and present versions of Elle Woods to coexist.
