Margot Robbie Wore McQueen To The ‘1536’ West End Opening Night

While Cannes may be in full swing, Margot Robbie managed to distract me entirely with her red carpet appearance at the Ambassadors Theatre this evening for the West End opening night of 1536 in London.

I have a feeling some of you still carry very specific expectations when it comes to Margot’s style, and whenever she steps outside that familiar framework, the reaction tends to become far more divided.

This McQueen Spring 2026 look will likely fall into that category.

The actress wore a slashed utility jacket trimmed with gold embroidered frogging, styled with McQueen’s low-rise “bumster” trousers – the infamous silhouette first introduced by Lee McQueen in the 1990s, designed to sit dramatically low on the hips and challenge traditional tailoring proportions.

It is sharper, moodier, and far less traditionally glamorous than many associate with Margot, but that is precisely why I like it.

What exactly is the expected Margot Robbie aesthetic at this point? Because personally, I appreciate that she rarely stays in one lane for too long.

After delivering two major thematic press tours for Barbie and Wuthering Heights, it feels as though she is enjoying more freedom to experiment outside the codes often associated with her Chanel ambassador role. Between the recent Armani look and now this McQueen ensemble, there is a stronger sense of fashion curiosity creeping back into her wardrobe again.

The look was styled with McQueen’s black Manta clutch, which complemented the darker edge of the outfit perfectly.

Stylist: Andrew Mukamal.
