Ruth Negga Wore Dior Haute Couture To The 2026 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony
Ruth Negga joined fellow jury member Demi Moore on the red carpet for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

But unlike Demi, Ruth isn’t getting enough solo moments with the cameras. Most of the images we have seen are group shots or pictures taken inside the venue, which really doesn’t do justice to this Dior Haute Couture gown by Jonathan Anderson.

The sage green satin alone would have made an impact, but it is the black lace trim and dramatic strands of Dior threads, ribbons, and beads that shift this look into far more interesting territory. Cascading from the neckline almost like layered jewellery, the embellishment transforms the slip silhouette, while the lace edging gives the look a sensual lingerie-inspired finish.

At first, I thought Ruth had wrapped the beaded strands around her hands simply to avoid tripping over them on the stairs, but from the back you can see the detail is intentionally knotted and draped as part of the design itself, creating a shawl-like effect that trails behind her as she walks.
It feels exactly in line with the kind of unconventional glamour Ruth does so well. While others leaned heavily into classic Cannes dressing, this had a darker, moodier elegance that instantly stood apart.
Chopard jewels and René Caovilla platform sandals completed her look.
