Ayo Edebiri’s Chanel Skyline Skirt Was Perfect For NYC

Following on from Margot Robbie’s recent Chanel moment, Ayo Edebiri was spotted making her way to a guest appearance on The View in New York City on Monday, where she discussed reimagining the beloved play Proof, in which she stars, as it returns to Broadway 25 years after its original premiere. She also revealed that former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama had attended the production.

For the appearance, the actress wore a look from the Chanel Pre-Fall 2026 collection featuring a black knit zip-up sweater layered over a white silk knit T-shirt, paired with a black knit skirt embroidered with a skyline motif created from crystals and multicoloured sequins.

Naturally, the skirt becomes the focal point here, especially worn in New York City, home to one of the most recognisable skylines in the world. The embroidery gives the piece texture and dimension, while the jagged asymmetric hemline mirrors the sharp edges of the skyscraper motif beautifully. It feels playful, graphic, and unmistakably tied to the city around her.

What makes this look work so well on Ayo is that she never approaches fashion in an overly polished or overly formal way. The relaxed knitwear styling keeps the outfit feeling authentic to her personal style, while the Chanel bag and silver pumps simply support the look.

This is exactly the kind of Chanel look that translates best off the runway, and Ayo continues to be the perfect person to sell it.

Remember when people thought this partnership would dilute her playful sense of style?
