Carey Mulligan Wore Colleen Allen To The ‘Beef’ Season 2 New York Screening
Carey Mulligan continued to promote season two of Netflix’s Beef at the New York screening held at Regal Union Square on Wednesday.

Following Michaela Coel’s New York style marathon, where she had me doing uncharacteristic things – loving a Colleen Allen look and celebrating velvet in the first month of Spring – this outing brings me back to my usual point of view.
I’m almost hesitant to talk about the colour, especially as Carey is known for favouring muted tones, but my first reaction was that these shades of orange don’t quite flatter her.

That said, seeing her making her way to the venue, I’m open to the idea that the lighting is working against it.
The main issue here is the fit. The top reads too wide through the body, with sleeves that run long, while the skirt is also slightly too long, with the hem pooling in a way that shortens the overall line.
Then there’s the velvet. While it worked in Michaela Coel’s look from the same designer, it feels heavier here on account of the proportions of the top. Even on the model, the balance isn’t quite there, which makes this feel less like a styling/sizing miss and more like the design not fully translating.
Stylist: Danielle Goldberg.
