Anne Hathaway Wore Lever Couture To The ‘Mother Mary’ New York Special Screening 

Anne Hathaway has so many films releasing this year that her press tours are starting to overlap.

Putting her The Devil Wears Prada press tour on hold – thankfully – the actress stepped onto the red carpet for the New York screening of Mother Mary in a Lever Couture gown crafted from shimmering mesh ribbons, delivering a look that immediately reads as soft-focus drama.

I don’t know about you, but every time I see dresses from this designer, I always think of Heidi Klum, and I have been trying to avoid her style misfortunes since the Grammy Awards, so I will try not to let my bias and the Klum association cloud my judgment towards this dress.

From the waist up, I’m on board. The sculpted, almost weightless structure around the shoulders and bodice feels elevated and directional, framing her beautifully without overwhelming her.

Where it loses me is from the waist down, as I wish there was a bit less in terms of the cascading layers. We are grateful that Anne’s version isn’t as sheer as the look which walked the runway, but I feel that fewer layers would have resulted in a cleaner finish, rather than the slightly disjointed ruffles we see here.
