Priyanka Chopra Wore Antoinette Messam To ‘The Bluff’ LA Premiere
Priyanka Chopra attended the world premiere of Amazon Prime Video’s The Bluff wearing a look that blurred the line between red carpet glamour and on-screen mythology.

At first glance, the leather cuirass reads like a striking fashion choice. Yes, it nods to Bloody Mary, but this was no surface level reference. Costume designer Antoinette Messam revealed on Instagram that she was asked to design what she described as a “genre defining transformation,” tied to a defining moment for Priyanka’s character, Bloody Mary.
Inspired by the siren painted on the character’s ship, the cuirass was hand built and wet molded over a scanned bust of the actress, before being aged with battle scars and sea worn texture. The result is not a costume lifted straight from set, but a sculptural piece with narrative embedded into every surface. Antoinette Messam credited leather artisans Meg Ashforth and Lolly Ruby Redpath for bringing the vision to life, with art finishers Billy Joe Mann and Olivia Balle adding the final weathered detailing. Madeline Turner oversaw the coordination of the many moving parts behind the design.
On the carpet, Priyanka styled the armour with a draped chocolate brown skirt featuring a thigh high slit and soft train. The contrast worked. The structured bodice carried the weight of the story, while the skirt restored balance, keeping the look anchored in premiere territory rather than a full costume.
I know some of you felt Margot Robbie’s thematic press tour for Wuthering Heights was overdone, but this is another example of a red carpet moment extending the world of the film. By stepping out in a piece directly tied to her character’s transformation, Priyanka offers a preview of Bloody Mary before audiences have even seen her on screen.
A Bvlgari necklace and brown Black Suede Studio mules completed the look which I adore from head-to-toe, and not simply for its thematic tie in. Remove it from the context of the film and the colour, styling and craftsmanship still stand on their own.
