Lisa Wore Balmain Haute Couture To Her ‘Amazing Thailand Ambassador’ Unveiling
Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban was officially appointed as Amazing Thailand Ambassador by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

For her unveiling, the singer actress wore a Balmain Haute Couture gown rooted in the house’s archives, paying homage to the enduring thread that connects the Parisian Maison and the Kingdom of Thailand.
This moment felt particularly fitting for Lisa. The singer has always been deeply connected to her roots, consistently championing Thai identity, creativity, and craftsmanship on the world stage, which perhaps explains her choice to now use her full name. Her appointment feels like a natural extension of that long standing dialogue rather than a sudden shift.

The couture design draws inspiration from Nuit à Londres, an iconic evening gown from Pierre Balmain’s Haute Couture Spring Summer 1960 collection, originally reimagined for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand. For more than 20 years, Pierre Balmain designed a significant part of Her Majesty’s wardrobe, forging a unique relationship between the House of Balmain and the Royal Family of Thailand. That history gives this look real weight rather than nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake, and played a defining role in Thai French cultural diplomacy.
Reimagined for Lisa, the design takes the form of a bustier gown with a train, built around precise couture draping. Traditional Thai textiles are integrated into the bandeau and sleeves, while a wrap skirt in duchesse satin creates a fluid yet sculptural silhouette. The matching stole reinforces the sense of ceremony perfectly.
For this occasion, the palette has been reinterpreted in yellow, rose gold, and gold Thai brocade, paired with chartreuse Thai silk, a colour story that immediately signals significance.
This feels less about a revival and more about continuity. Unveiled during the 170th anniversary of Thai French relations, and worn by a globally recognised Thai icon, the look lands as a meeting point between heritage, modern visibility, and personal identity on an international stage.

The look was styled with Bvlgari jewellery, chosen to echo the ruby embellishments on the dress, and finished with a bow-accented clutch from Thai label Jasmina, reinforcing the cultural throughline.
