Mindy Kaling Wore Emilia Wickstead To Golden Eve
For her first red carpet appearance of the year, Mindy Kaling stepped out at Golden Eve: The Golden Globes honouring Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker, held at The Beverly Hilton on Tuesday evening.

She wore a black column dress from Emilia Wickstead’s Fall 2025 collection, and while the designer isn’t a name we typically associate with cut-outs, here they were very much the focal point. Placed through the waist and framed with embellishment, they introduced an unexpected element to an otherwise classic silhouette.
I’ll always be team colour when it comes to Mindy, but I also understand that her current red carpet rhythm leans more tempered and considered. In that sense, the choice makes sense. The shape is clean, the palette pared back, and the overall mood aligns with how she’s been dressing on the red carpet lately.
That said, while I like the design in theory, it’s hard not to notice the bunching of fabric across the top of the dress, which feels like a fit issue. The gown either needed pulling down to smooth this out, or — judging by where the embellished band is meant to land at the small of the waist — it may simply have been designed for someone with a longer torso.
