Olivia Dean Wore Lanvin Performing at Jool’s Annual Hootenanny for New Years Eve Celebration
Olivia Dean brought warmth and soul to Jools’ Annual Hootenanny as part of the BBC’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, delivering a performance that was perfectly in tune with the spirit of the night. Performing Nice to Each Other and fan favourite (and top of my Spotify playlist) Man I Need, she later joined Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra for a joyful cover of Natalie Cole’s This Will Be (An Everlasting Love), rounding out a set that leaned into feel-good familiarity.

For the occasion, the British singer chose a gold metallic Clochette petal off-the-shoulder dress from Lanvin’s Fall 2025 collection. Under the studio lights, the fabric caught and reflected every note of the performance, and I love how the sculptural petal skirt brought the drama.
I have to say, it was refreshing to see a performer step away from the now-fading (hopefully) catsuit era. This look felt like a return to classic performance dressing. Personally, I would have loved to see the dress worn without tights and paired with a strappy sandal, but with UK temperatures firmly in the minus, tights and closed-toe shoes are understandable. Her Jimmy Choo Afia Mesh pumps were a practical choice that didn’t distract from the dress.
It’s also hard not to notice how much attention Peter Copping’s Lanvin has been receiving lately. There’s a renewed sense of excitement around the label that recalls its earlier red carpet heyday, when celebrities consistently turned to the house under Alber Elbaz for standout moments. Seeing Lanvin back feels overdue — and Olivia’s Hootenanny appearance, along with Jessica Biel and Chloé Zhao’s looks this weekend, only reinforces that momentum.
