Zoe Saldana Wore Chanel To The ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ Miami Special Screening

Zoe Saldana skipped the Avatar: Fire and Ash London premiere on Thursday, leaving press duties to Sigourney Weaver, and instead made the Miami special screening her priority. Given the city—and the Latin American audience—I have no doubt that decision was warmly received.

What I did not expect was this.

If you’re anything like me, you’re stunned to see Zoe wearing this Chanel Spring 2026 dress. Not only is the floral appliqué mermaid gown genuinely beautiful—and arguably her best look of this tour—but it’s also surprising given that this was a screening rather than a premiere. Even more unexpected is that she’s wearing one of the strongest looks from Matthieu Blazy’s Spring 2026 collection for Chanel.

This dress was firmly on my wish list for Lupita Nyong’o. I’ve been eager to see her return to a colourful, detailed, non-tweed, non-black era, but the honour went to Zoe—who more than did this moment justice, screening or not.

By Zoe’s own standards, this is a departure. She usually leans minimalist, favouring clean lines over embellishment. This dress, with its delicate floral appliqué and soft mermaid silhouette, sits well outside her usual comfort zone. But if there’s anywhere to embrace this look, it’s Miami.

I don’t believe she would not have worn this dress in London.
