Zhang Ziyi joined Zoe Saldana on the red carpet for the China premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash her role as the local voice of Ronal, a character voiced globally by Kate Winslet.
We’ve long associated Zhang Ziyi with a romantic undercurrent in her red carpet style, and she leaned fully into that identity on this occasion wearing a Jenny Packham Blaize embellished cape gown.
Some may feel the look leans too precious for Zhang Ziyi, but for me that softness is exactly what makes it work. The blush tone keeps the gown light, while the sequin embroidery and cape are what give the look its presence.
I’m especially glad this was styled with an updo; overall, this felt like a considered return to the romantic side of her red carpet style.
