Kristen Stewart Wore Rodarte To The 2025 SCAD Savannah Film Festival

Kristen Stewart was the Rising Star Director Awardee during the SCAD Savannah Film Festival.

I am a long-time believer in be careful what you wish for, because fashion has a way of throwing that phrase right back at you.

For years, many of you have asked what Kristen Stewart would look like without Chanel? What happens when the house ambassador steps out of the Parisian uniform? Would she finally feel stylistically “free”? Would she lean back into the punkish, ragged-edged experimentalism of pre-Chanel contract?

Well. Here we are.

Kristen arrived in a white sheer lace Rodarte Spring 2025 crop top with a ruffled collar, exposed bra, and a handkerchief hem skirt. It’s romantic in theory, but not in execution.

We’ve grown used to Kristen’s Chanel era being defined by formula — short tweed skirts, sharp jackets, a kind of Paris grunge chic that feels cohesive with her gait, posture, and don’t-care-but-care energy. Under Matthieu Blazy, Chanel is pivoting into a new language, and yes, Kristen might feel a bit out of place in that transition. But this Rodarte outing shows that not every route back to “authentic Kristen” is automatically a win.

Because here’s the complication: her history with Chanel is so deeply associated with her image that when she appears in like this, it’s easy for the general viewer to assume it is Chanel — and that’s where the issue lies. It muddies brand identity, and her identity.

Some will argue this look is more “her” than recent Chanel moments. I understand the sentiment. But intention and impact are not the same thing. I don’t see this isn’t rebellion. It’s just not landing.

Kristen can sell nearly anything to me on confidence and edge alone — but not this time.
