When McQueen meets Malibu Barbie

You know the song, “Things can only get better?” It doesn’t apply in this case for this press tour, sadly.

While this custom McQueen Resort 2026 corseted pink silk satin and heritage lace gown — illuminated with glass bead and crystal embroidery — is certainly an improvement from her previous press tour looks, I remain completely baffled by her ongoing commitment to lingerie-inspired gowns. It’s constant, and not even done in an innovative or commendable way.

The result feels unrefined, and I hate to use that word when talking about McQueen, but this, once again, resembles a Frederick’s of Hollywood nightgown. Did Sydney get lost heading to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show? That’s the only acceptable explanation at this point.

As each red carpet rolls by, that spellbinding Met Gala moment fades further into memory. This downward style trajectory needs a serious course correction. McQueen pink leather Skull sandals completed her look.

McQueen attitude

Trent Sweeney, on the other hand, fared far better. Dressed in McQueen Pre-Fall 2025, his look carried a quietly cool energy. The studded black leather jacket nodded to the house’s rebellious codes, while the subtle pink-and-white shirt linked back to his sister’s palette without feeling forced. Add in McQueen leather brogues and McQueen T-Bar cat-eye sunglasses, and you’ve got a look that channels McQueen’s spirit without trying too hard — effortlessly stylish, and perfectly self-assured.
