Sydney Sweeney Wore Miu Miu To The 2025 Met Gala
When it comes to the Met Gala, showing up in a pretty dress isn’t enough—you need narrative, relevance, and that all-important wink to the theme. Sydney Sweeney delivered all three in custom Miu Miu, and while it might’ve initially felt like a sparkling detour from Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, she was quietly playing a long game.

The beaded fringe, the signature keyhole neckline—it was giving ‘60s siren, but with purpose. The real “aha” moment came via her Instagram story, where she posted a still of Kim Novak wearing a strikingly similar dress in the 1967 film The Legend of Lylah Clare. Suddenly, everything clicked.
Sydney’s set to play Novak in Scandalous, which dives into the actress’s relationship with Sammy Davis Jr.—a taboo interracial romance in the ‘50s, and a powerful story of defiance and identity. And guess who’s directing? None other than Met Gala co-chair Colman Domingo.
This was fashion meets film promo with reverence baked in. She nailed the visual reference, gave us historical depth, and still managed to look absolutely stunning. If this is what we can expect from this press tour, then, I’m already locked in.
De Beers jewels completed her look.
