Laura Dern Wore Stella McCartney To The ‘Is This Thing On?’ London Film Festival Premiere

Laura Dern joined her co-star Andra Day on the red carpet at The Royal Festival Hall this evening for the London Film Festival premiere of Is This Thing On?

As you know, I’m not the biggest fan of Laura’s style, but I always approach each outing with an open mind.

While I like the silhouette of this Stella McCartney Fall 2025 dress on her — and the fact that they softened the shoulders from the runway so they read more ode-to-the-’80s than quarterback — I’m struggling with that trompe l’oeil silver, stylised corset or bodysuit effect.

I believe Stella’s vision was to create the illusion of sculpted curves through crystal embroidery, aligning with her long-held fascination for optical silhouettes and body-contouring achieved through texture rather than structure. That’s how I’m choosing to lean into this — because, truthfully, it’s one of Laura’s better red carpet moments.

I just wish the styling matched the effort. An elegant bun would have elevated this look massively.
