Sabrina Carpenter had the kind of night at the 2025 MTV VMAs that marks a real turning point. Album of the Year for Short n’ Sweet, the inaugural Best Pop Artist title, and a visual effects win for Manchild—all while redefining herself on the red carpet.

Her custom Valentino lace dress felt like a visual manifesto of her new Man’s Best Friend era. It balanced sheer delicacy with show-stopping presence, layered with a lavender feather boa and rich red tones that nodded to burlesque and Old Hollywood without ever feeling dated.

What struck me most was how confidently she wore it. I’ve been lukewarm on some of her past looks, but this one felt like Sabrina fully stepping into her own star power. It had the flair of a showgirl, the cinematic sweep of classic glamour, and the edge of a pop icon setting the stage for what’s next.
