FKA twigs Wore Matieres Fecales To The 2025 MTV VMAs

FKA twigs has never been one to chase trends, so while the pop girls leaned into nostalgia for the 2025 MTV VMAs, she took us somewhere far more alien.

She arrived in a custom blood-red Matieres Fecales look—long-sleeve crop top and trousers that embodied the label’s Grotesque Futurism aesthetic. It was less about “clothes” and more about fashion as art, rebellion, and speculative fiction.

From the front it was striking, but from the back it leaned fully into sci-fi surrealism, as if she’d stepped out of a cyborg dream. Styled with Christian Louboutin x Matieres Fecales platform heels, braided headphones, a nose ring, and a metal grill, the whole look carried a performance-art quality that only FKA twigs can pull off.

The only real surprise? She kept her eyebrows this time.

You don’t have to love the look to appreciate it—what mattered was the artistry. At a night dominated by nostalgic references, twigs reminded us that she plays in a different universe entirely.
